About Me

Elizabeth Mass, LICSW, LCSW (she/her)

But you can call me Lizzy. I was born and raised in the suburbs of Washington, DC, and have lived in and around DC most of my life, except for short, but meaningful, periods of time in California and Georgia.

I have always loved people. Understanding, connecting with, seeing the strength in, and helping others is a core part of who I am. It drove me to pursue a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in psychology at Pomona College and a Master’s in Social Work (MSW) from Catholic University with the goal of holding space for and supporting others in the most direct way I could imagine: as a therapist. It was the best decision. I love being a therapist and every day I feel honored that my clients share their inner world, pain, and triumphs with me.

While pursuing my MSW, I provided therapy to college and graduate students. It was a career-transforming experience. Working with young adults as they launched independent lives, grappled with their sense of self, and navigated mental health concerns was deeply fulfilling and invigorating. I knew I wanted this to be my life’s work and pursued specialized training in a two-year Post-MSW Fellowship at Emory University’s Counseling and Psychological Services.

Afterward, I returned to my hometown to be a therapist, clinical supervisor, and coordinator of the group therapy program at Catholic University’s Counseling Center. Since then, I have exclusively provided therapy to young adults and adults.
